The CHIETA Discretionary Grant is aimed at employers and enterprises within the chemical sector, offering financial support for training activities that address skills shortages, improve productivity, and contribute to sector development. These grants are critical in helping businesses upskill their workforce, improve operational efficiency, and stay competitive in a rapidly evolving industry.

For the 2026/26 cycle (Cycle 1), CHIETA has opened the application process to employers and enterprises for training activities between April 2026 and March 2026. Applications will be accepted for a limited time, so it’s important to act quickly.

Who Can Apply?

Eligible applicants include:

  • Employers and enterprises within the chemical sector who have submitted their Annual Training Reports (ATR) and Workplace Skills Plans (WSP) to CHIETA.
  • Non-levy paying companies, training providers, and Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) in the chemical sector.
  • Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs), Co-operatives, and Higher Education Institutions are also encouraged to apply.

To apply, new applicants must ensure they have the necessary documentation, including a signed Appointment Letter from their company on official letterhead. This step is essential before registering a new profile and linking it to the company.

  • Application Window: Applications will be accepted for one month only, so it’s important to prepare in advance.
  • Training Period: All applications must be for training scheduled between April 2026 and March 2026.
