The CCBSA (Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa) Study Buddy Fund Bursary is an initiative designed to support talented but financially disadvantaged South African students. Launched in 2021, the bursary aims to provide comprehensive financial assistance to learners from specific communities, helping them access tertiary education.

The fund covers critical expenses such as tuition, accommodation fees, and textbooks. It targets individuals from disadvantaged communities where CCBSA operates, including areas like Mdantsane, Motherwell, and Tembisa. The bursary is open to South African students who have completed their Grade 12 with bachelor’s degree entry requirements and have been accepted into a South African university.

One of the key features of the Study Buddy Fund is its focus on academic excellence and community development. Notably, it includes four main components:

  1. Host Community Bursary Programme: Supports academically strong students from CCBSA’s operational areas with full financial assistance for university studies.
  2. University Partnership: Assists students already enrolled at universities but who do not have financial support through other bursaries or government schemes like NSFAS.
  3. TVET College Support: Offers support for students pursuing technical skills that align with the CCBSA value chain, such as engineering​.
