How much is UVic tuition?

UVic tuition for Canadian citizens and permanent residents for this year is $5,761.00 CAD per year. International tuition is $18,816.00 CAD per year.

In addition to tuition, there are also other fees that students must pay, such as student fees, co-op program fees, and health insurance. For domestic students, these fees are typically around $500 CAD per year. For international students, these fees are typically around $1,000 CAD per year.

The total cost of attending UVic will vary depending on a number of factors, such as the student’s program of study, whether they are living on or off campus, and their lifestyle. However, as a general rule of thumb, students can expect to spend around $15,000 CAD per year on living expenses, in addition to tuition and fees.

Standard Tuition Fees (effective May 1, 2023)

Full Fee Installment:

  • Domestic Full Fee – $2,134.54 per term (per 4 months).
  • International Full Fee – $2,692.30 per term (per 4 months).

LLM in Law and Society: Most students take between 4-6 terms to complete their program. After you have paid five full fee installments, you become eligible to pay reregistration fees every term until you reach the maximum completion time limit of five years.

PhD in Law and Society: PhD students are expected to complete their dissertation within 4 to 5 years. After you have paid seven full fee installments and one half-fee installment, you become eligible to pay reregistration fees every term until you reach the maximum completion time limit of seven years.

After you have paid the full fee installments indicated above for both LLM and PhD programs, you can then pay reregistration fees every term instead of a full fee installment:

  • Domestic reregistration – $847.78 per term (per 4 months).
  • International reregistration – $1,071.98 per term (per 4 months).

Students who are granted a program extension and remain registered after exceeding the time limit for their program (normally five years for a master’s degree and seven years for a doctoral degree – see Time Limits) will be assessed a program extension fee at the regular tuition rate per term, per calendar regulations.
