Sacaa Midrand

The SACAA was established on 1 October 1998 under the now-repealed South African Civil Aviation Authority Act 40 of 1998. Its current mandate stems from the Civil Aviation Act 13 of 2009, positioning it as a key player in regulating and promoting aviation safety and security in line with the Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

As an agency of the Department of Transport (DoT), SACAA aims to continuously enhance the standards of the civil aviation industry while tailoring them to South Africa’s unique context.
