For this, it is also important to have many dedicated and well-trained traffic officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But how do I become a traffic trainee?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The RTMC has sent an e-mail to all provincial head offices of traffic and to the head offices of metro police so that people can have access to the application forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We would like to share, on the Arrive Alive Website the correspondence provided by the RTMC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Traffic Training Information:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Kindly note the following in regard to the training of Traffic Officers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. You first need to be employed\/appointed, permanently or on contract as a trainee, by a Provincial Department of Transport or a Municipal Traffic Department. These Authorities normally advertise vacant posts in the Open Media.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You, therefore, need to check your local and national newspapers on a regular basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You may also contact any Local or Provincial Authority directly to inquire whether vacancies exist or when posts will be advertised, as well as to obtain any application forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. The minimum requirements to become a Traffic Officer are:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Grade 12 or equivalent (No specific subjects needed)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No criminal record \u00b7 Code B driving Licence (manual transmission)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Medical Certificate \u2013 that a person may do strenuous exercises<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applicants shall not be older than 35 years of age<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must be employed by a Local or Provincial Authority.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>NB: Only once you are employed\/appointed as a Traffic Trainee will you be sent to one of the 14 Traffic Colleges by a Traffic Department only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. WARNING:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>No private person can enrol directly at a Traffic College as a Trainee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Contact Traffic Departments directly for information on available trainee vacancies, application forms and opportunities for possible voluntary work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No one can reserve a \u201cspace\u201d for you at a Traffic College.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The training of Traffic Officers is funded by the state for selected candidates when posts are available.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do Not make an upfront payment to anyone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be aware of bogus colleges, remember you can only be sent by a Traffic Department to a Traffic College, with NO middleman involved.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. IN SUMMARY:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Basic Training for Traffic Officers in SA can ONLY BE DONE at a Traffic College through a Traffic Department as a TRAINEE.
