You may also be required to complete a series of tests to assist in the placement process.<\/p>\n<p>Students following the Cambridge system should take note of the following requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Passes of at least five different subjects of the <span data-scayt_word=\"IGCSE\" data-scaytid=\"5\">IGCSE<\/span> and <span data-scayt_word=\"HIGCSE\" data-scaytid=\"7\">HIGCSE<\/span> study levels, of which at least two are <span data-scayt_word=\"HIGCSE\" data-scaytid=\"8\">HIGCSE<\/span> level subjects.<\/li>\n<li>A pass in the language which is the medium of instruction at the University (English or Afrikaans).<\/li>\n<li>Specific pass grades: <span data-scayt_word=\"IGCSE\" data-scaytid=\"6\">IGCSE<\/span>: A, B or C ; <span data-scayt_word=\"HIGCSE\" data-scaytid=\"9\">HIGCSE<\/span>: 1, 2 or 3.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other senior school qualifications will be reviewed on merit. In some instances, where the format of secondary school education is unfamiliar, students applying for National Diploma <span data-scayt_word=\"programmes\" data-scaytid=\"20\">programmes<\/span> may also be asked to apply for <span data-scayt_word=\"SAQA\" data-scaytid=\"21\">SAQA<\/span> evaluation prior to their acceptance. Applications towards a National Diploma do not require <span data-scayt_word=\"SAQA\" data-scaytid=\"22\">SAQA<\/span> verification for students from Commonwealth Countries.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Evaluation of foreign qualifications<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Students who wish to apply for <span data-scayt_word=\"MTech\" data-scaytid=\"12\">MTech<\/span> or <span data-scayt_word=\"DTech\" data-scaytid=\"13\">DTech<\/span> <span data-scayt_word=\"programmes\" data-scaytid=\"4\">programmes<\/span> must have their qualifications evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (<span data-scayt_word=\"SAQA\" data-scaytid=\"15\">SAQA<\/span>) prior to submitting their application forms (see below). This includes a pass in English at A-level or O-level; a Test in English as a Foreign Language (<span data-scayt_word=\"TOEFL\" data-scaytid=\"37\">TOEFL<\/span>) score of at least 550; or a 6.5 on the International Testing System (<span data-scayt_word=\"IELTS\" data-scaytid=\"38\">IELTS<\/span>).
