Interested applicants should follow the guidelines below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CLOSING DATE: 30 September 2026 (for second semester).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>BURSARY REQUIREMENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>You must be a South African citizen<\/li><li>You must be unemployed and wish to work within the manufacturing, engineering and related service sector OR you must be employed by a company which is registered with the merSETA<\/li><li>You must be in possession of a Matric certificate (or equivalent) OR a post-Matric (or equivalent qualification)<\/li><li>You must meet the minimum admission requirements of the tertiary institution<\/li><li>You must be studying or intend on studying towards one of the aforementioned Degree or Diploma qualifications<\/li><li>You must be studying or intend on studying at a recognised University or University of Technology in South Africa<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>BURSARY COVERAGE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>merSETA bursaries will be awarded for studies within these fields:<br><strong>University of Technology students (semester courses):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Chemical Engineering (National Diploma)<\/li><li>Electrical Engineering (light and heavy current &amp; electronics) (National Diploma)<\/li><li>Metallurgy &amp; Materials Engineering (National Diploma)<\/li><li>Industrial Engineering (National Diploma)<\/li><li>Mechanical Engineering (including Mechatronics) (National Diploma)<\/li><li>Polymer Technology (National Diploma)<\/li><li>Production and Operations Management (National Diploma)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>University students (undergraduate programmes):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Chemical Engineering (BSc)<\/li><li>Electrical Engineering (light and heavy current and electronic) (BSc)<\/li><li>Industrial Engineering (BSc)<\/li><li>Mechanical Engineering (including Mechatronics) (BSc)<\/li><li>Metallurgy and Materials Engineering (BSc)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Bursaries will be awarded to students from their 1st year of study, however current students may also apply if they have partially completed their courses with satisfactory results and would not be able to further their studies without funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students who have other sources of significant funding (bursaries, loans, scholarships or other awards), must declare this to the Bursary Scheme Manager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>METHOD OF APPLICATION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications must be submitted directly to your University\u2019s bursary department.
