This is done by providing student teachers with a well-rounded education that equips them with the required subject content knowledge base, teaching competence, a sound and nuanced understanding of the integrated nature of theory and practice in education and the context of the teaching profession in South Africa. This article covers all about UJ teaching requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">UJ teaching requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The programme focuses specifically on child development, literacy, numeracy (mathematics) and the knowledge that underpins life skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Outcomes of the programme<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Students who complete this programme will be able to:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Teach the foundation phase curriculum (numeracy, literacy and life-skills) proficiently<\/li><li>Use advanced literacy skills for teaching<\/li><li>Support and nurture learning and development in diverse educational contexts.<\/li><li>Identify and address barriers to learning in the early years of schooling<\/li><li>Teach literacy in English and Sotho or IsiZulu (as first language and additional language).<\/li><li>Formulate a personal teaching philosophy and critically reflect on their teaching philosophy and how it relates to teaching conduct.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Admission requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A valid National Senior Certificate (NSC) with admission for degree purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Minimum APS 26 Excluding Life Orientation<br>English as a home language 5 (60%+) or<br>English as a first or second additional language 6 (70%+)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Admission Requirements: National Certificate (Vocational) (N.V.C.)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Subject to institutional admission requirements, the minimum admission requirement to Bachelor\u2019s degree programme is a National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4 issued by Council for General and Further Education and Training. The minimum legislative requirements for admission to a Bachelors\u2019 degree include the achievement of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Three (3) fundamental subjects between 60-69% &#8211; including English as language of learning and teaching<\/li><li>Three vocational subjects from the designated list between 70-79%.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">International students<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note that a separate process is followed for international students.
